| [View Updates][View Threads][View Files][SVN Log][SVN Submitters]Title: | Quick user space application to terminate runaway apps. | | Synopsis: Provide a similar function to xkill on Unix whereby the user can select from a drop down menu the item "Kill Task", and identify the task in question by clicking on it.
| Status: | Open | Priority: | Low As prioritized by the OS4 development team | Category: | workbench/tool | Description: | The mode of operation:
User selects "Kill Task" from the workbench menu. The next window that the user clicks on is then the target.
When the user clicks on the target there are two possible operations:
1. For orphaned windows, where they are no longer being updated by a running task, the window is closed.
2. For running tasks, they are notified via a signal and/or a message to terminate cleanly. Obviously here the task has to co-operate with the signalling process. If the process does not respond to the "Kill Task" message queue within a set duration, the task is removed from the Exec list, and the window that the user clicked on is closed. | Created by: | DaveP | Created at: | 20090629 19:42 | Deadline: | Not set | Finished at: | Not finished | Last update: | 20140402 19:09 | Assigned to: | Not assigned | Suggested by: | DaveP |
